End of August and All of September Will Be Marked by Numerous Fun, Educational, Culinary, and Musical Events in the Municipality of Kanfanar

SUNDAY, AUGUST 31 | DVIGRAD FESTIVAL

On Sunday, August 31, a concert will be held in the Basilica of Saint Sophia in Dvigrad to open the 23rd edition of the Dvigrad Festival – an international early music festival. The theme of the concert will be Elizabethan England, i.e., the late 16th century. Performing will be the renowned German ensemble Feuervogel, presenting the theme through musical miniatures played on historical recorders and percussion instruments. The concert starts at 8:00 PM and admission is free.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 | DVIGRAD STORYTELLING TOUR    (EVENT CANCELED!)

Performed by the popular Istra Inspirit, visitors will enjoy a guided storytelling walk through the ruins of Dvigrad titled “Dvigrad Storytelling Tour.” This one-hour interactive walk includes theatrical performances and a storytelling concept through which participants will learn numerous historical facts as well as secrets, myths, and legends of Dvigrad. The price is €7.00 per person and includes a tasting of local products. Tickets available at:

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 | SECRETS AND LEGENDS OF LIM BAY

The closing event of the third edition of Summer at Lim – jointly organized by the Tourist Boards of the Municipalities of Kanfanar and Vrsar – will be an interpretive boat ride through Lim Bay. During this one-hour ride, actors from Istra Inspirit will perform an interactive play titled “Secrets and Legends of Lim Bay.” Participants will learn about this protected natural area and the intriguing legends associated with it. The boat ride also includes a tasting of local products. Tickets are available at:

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 | “ZAKANTAJMO ISTRIJANSKE KANTE”

The traditional gathering of Istrian folk singers (kantaduri) will take place in Barat on Saturday, September 13. The 27th edition of the event “Zakantajmo Istrijanske Kante” will begin at 7:00 PM in front of the Church of Saint Peter in Chains. Dozens of Istrian kantaduri are expected to perform, showcasing the beauty of this protected singing style, which is listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Croatia and also recognized by UNESCO. Admission is free.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 | DVIGRAD BLUES FESTIVAL

The fifth edition of the Dvigrad Blues Festival in Kanfanar will once again bring a lineup of renowned blues bands and artists. Following the style of old Southern U.S. festivals, this is a daytime event starting at 1:00 PM. The park next to the Kanfanar main square (Placa) will host:

In addition to great music, the festival offers various side programs. Culinary delights will be provided by chef Tvrtko Šakota, and visitors will enjoy a special “gathering of supernatural wines” – biodynamic and organic wines from Istrian winemakers. The program will also include a “harp challenge show” – a harmonica playing contest.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 | FUŽIJADA

In the municipality of Istrian oxen and fuži (traditional Istrian pasta), this famous local specialty gets the celebration it deserves! The popular Fužijada will take place on Saturday, September 20, around the Kanfanar square (Placa).

The warm-up begins at 4:00 PM with a fun family competition called “In Search of Fuži”, a family-oriented orientation race across Kanfanar, where participants solve riddles to find hidden locations. The main Fužijada program starts at 5:00 PM at the square, where visitors can enjoy various fuži dishes with different sauces. There will also be a live cooking show by renowned chefs Antonio Brajković and Stjepan Vukadin.

Other highlights include signature cocktails and gins by Damijanić Distillery, and a rich children’s program in the nearby park. The evening will end with a live performance by Klapa Intrade, free for all Fužijada visitors and guests of Kanfanar.
