Lim Bay Oysters day – March 22, 2026
The star of the Limski kanal, the oyster, will once again shine in full glory at the event dedicated to it. Limski Oyster Day (oštrige being the local name for oysters) will be held for the 6th time on Sunday, March 22, 2026, immediately after the feast of Saint Joseph (March 19), traditionally believed to be the time when oysters are at their fullest and most flavorful.
The fourth edition of this beloved event—which has attracted a large number of visitors since its first year—brings an even richer and more engaging program tailored to different age groups and interests. What unites all activities is the central theme of the event: oysters.
The main part of the program will take place from 12 PM to 4 PM along the waterfront of the Limski Channel, where fresh oysters will be served—just harvested from the sea, with only a few drops of lemon juice. Many consider this the best way to enjoy them, as it allows the oysters to fully express their distinctive flavor and the authentic aromas of the sea.
For those interested in discovering other ways oysters can be prepared, restaurants “Viking” and “Fjord” will offer special themed menus at promotional prices, with oysters playing the leading role.
No matter which version you choose to taste, the rule is simple: oysters pair perfectly with good wine—or even better, sparkling wine. Both at the restaurants and along the waterfront, a special selection of local and Istrian wines and sparkling wines will be available throughout the day.
The waterfront will also feature stands by local producers, an attractive photo corner, live music, traditional Istrian desserts, and a variety of other activities—making a visit to the Lim that day the best possible choice.
After indulging in the gastronomic delicacies of this protected natural area, visitors will also have the opportunity to discover what the Limski zaljev looks like from a “sea perspective.” Panoramic boat rides departing from the oyster farms will be organized throughout the afternoon.
